Conscious Companies: This Saves Lives

This snack company saves lives. They provide malnourished children around the world with Plumpy’Nut - a peanut paste specifically formulated to treat malnutrition quickly by providing the calories and nutrients necessary for life.  For every bar sold, the company provides a child in need with a packet of Plumpy’Nut. (That means you can help save lives!) According to the company’s website “It only takes 3 packets a day for about 8 weeks to take a child from severely malnourished to completely healthy. No exaggeration.” That’s 168 bars, or $335.86, to save a life (at $23.99 for a 12-pack). We’ve never heard of a better reason to throw a snack party.

While the majority of malnourished children live in developing countries, like Haiti and South Sudan, This Saves Lives also works with Feeding America to provide healthy meals through food pantries in the U.S, and has provided over 275,000 meals to date. 

So far this company sounds incredible, right?! Yup, and the Non-GMO Project Verified, gluten free, and kosher snack bars are also genuinely tasty as can be. The bars currently come in six original flavors: Dark Chocolate & Cherry, Wild Blueberry & Pistachio, Dark Chocolate & Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate and Coconut, PB & J, and our favorite, Madagascar Vanilla Almond & Honey. But we’re on the lookout for seasonal flavors! They also have insanely thoughtful school-safe snack bars for kids made without nuts, dairy, soy, and gluten, since food allergies in children keep going up and up. The adorable options are S'mores Blast, Chocolate Chip “Dino”Mite, and Rockin’ Straw-beary.
